More information about the proposed rapid rail line through Independence, Blue Springs and Grain Valley could come to light at a meeting next week.

There’s an open house from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the River Market Event Place, 140 Walnut St., Kansas City. That’s about a block and a half north of the Steamboat Arabia.

This is part of the Jackson County Commuter Corridors Alernatives Analysis process, and there will be updates on the latest plans for commuter rail, buses and bike trails for three corridors:

• Roughly along Interstate 70, a key part of which is a proposed commuter rail line on the Kansas City Southern line that runs from Kansas City into Independence, Blue Springs and Grain Valley. Each of those cities would have stops.

• The unused Rock Island corridor up through Lee’s Summit and Raytown. One proposed use is putting those tracks back into service for commuter rail.

• A similar along U.S. 71, from Grandview to Kansas City.
