A winter storm could make travel difficult in the Kansas City area through Monday, the National Weather Service says.
The advisory is in effect from midnight Sunday through midnight Monday. By the morning commute we could have an inch or two of snow in the Kansas City area. By Monday evening, the snowfall total could be 3 to 5 inches.
Because temperatures are hovering around freezing, much of the early snow may stick only to grassy areas, leaving pavements wet. Through the day, travel will likely become more difficult. A strong cold front will move through early Monday evening.
In Eastern Jackson County there is a 100 percent chance of snow Monday, with a high of 31 and a low of 9.
The storm is expected to affect eastern Kansas and central to northern Missouri as far as Chillicothe.
