Ravi Shankar died last night at age 92, his family said today. Shankar was a legendary sitar player who popularized the instrument in the West, and he even taught Beatle George Harrison how to play it. Shankar, who was from India, became a big part of the '60s scene because of the Beatles connection and because of his performaces at Monterey (1967) and Woodstock (1969). Shankar also is the father of singer Norah Jones.
