The “Archaeology of Fort Osage” will be held at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday at Fort Osage National Historic Landmark, 107 Osage St., Sibley.
Fort Osage is a National Historic Landmark and a National Archaeological District. The archaeological district includes the site of Fort Osage (1808-1827), prehistoric American Indian settlements that date from 2,000 to 1,400 years ago and the original portion of the Town of Sibley (1836-1890).
Join a professional archaeologist in the auditorium at the Education Center for a review of park archaeology.
Afterwards, take a walking tour and view the original foundation of the Fort Osage factory, the original front entrance of the fort, and the location of Sibley and the prehistoric American Indian settlements.
Admission is $7 for adults, $4 for ages 5 to 13; $3 for ages 62 and older, and children 4 and under are free.
