This week, "The Mile Starts Here" is taking to the McCoy Park Trail.
The fall walking program, which continues at 9 a.m. Wednesday and continues through Nov. 28, will cover five new Independence parks and trails separate from those in the summer program. The schedule is as follows:
– This Wednesday and Nov. 14: McCoy Park Trail, 800 N. Bess Truman Parkway. Meet in the northwest corner of the park.
– Oct. 17: (No walk on Nov. 21, which is the day before Thanksgiving): Independence Athletic Complex, 17800 E. Salisbury Road.
– Oct. 24 and Nov. 28: Little Blue Trace Trail. Meet at the trail head at Necessary Road at R.D. Mize Road.
– Oct. 31: McCoy Park to Mill Creek Park Trail: 800 N. Bess Truman Parkway. Meet at the northwest corner of McCoy Park.
– Nov. 7: Centerpoint Medical Center Trail, 19600 E. 39th St. Meet in the parking lot off of Jackson Drive at the medical offices entrance.
