The Independence City Council agenda for Monday night appears to be a light one.

Although the dollar amounts on several projects slated for approval are significant, the agenda contains items that are regular business for the council. Council members will recognize Steve Schmidli, detective with the Independence Police Department, as the February 2012 Employee of the Month.

Donald Main Jr. also is slated to speak during the citizen comment period about commercial vehicles. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. inside the council chambers at City Hall, 111 E. Maple Ave.

The council meeting is broadcast live on City 7 and on the city’s website, www.indepmo.org. Audio recordings of the council meetings also are available in a podcast format.
