Independence, MO —
One person was killed in a two vehicle accident on the east side of Independence.
The accident happened when a car collided with a tractor-trailer just before 6:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at Missouri 78 and Truman Road. The male driver was extricated from the vehicle, but attempts to revive him were unsuccessful. The driver, whose name has not been released, died at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not seriously injured.
Emergency crews remain on the scene, and the road in the immediate area surrounding the crash site is blocked. The Independence Police Department is investigating what caused the accident.
