Charges were filed against a North Kansas City man accused of killing a Buckner man in a vehicle accident on the east side of Independence Tuesday morning.
Garry Karas, 59, was charged with a misdemeanor count of careless and imprudent driving. Karas was driving a tractor-trailer at about 6:25 a.m. Tuesday morning at Missouri 78 and Truman Road.
Court documents show that Karas, who was eastbound on Missouri 78, failed to stop at a stop sign at Truman Road and struck a Pontiac G6 car operated by Danny L. Pittman, 49, of Buckner. Pittman was extricated from the vehicle, but attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Karas was not injured. He posted a $5,000 bond and was released.
