A wheelchair tennis awareness event will take place Oct. 27 in Blue Springs.
It's from 2 to 4 p.m. at Metro East Tennis Center, 3109 N.W. Vesper St. The event is free to family and friends alike and will include on-court activities, music, food and beverages and lots of fun. Both those who are new to the sport and who are skilled are invited to attend what is becoming one of the fastest-growing wheelchair sports.
Nick Taylor also is scheduled to appear at the event. Taylor is ranked No. 3 in the world by the International Tennis Federation quad singles rankings, is the reigning Olympic gold medal doubles champion and holds doubles titles at both the Australian and U.S. opens.
