"The Mile Starts Here" is taking to Independence Athletic Complex on Wednesday morning.
The Building a Healthier Independence walking program starts at 9 a.m. at 17800 E. Salisbury Road.
The walking program, which continues on Wednesdays through Nov. 28, covers five new Independence parks and trails separate from those in the summer program. The schedule is as follows:
– Oct. 24 and Nov. 28: Little Blue Trace Trail. Meet at the trail head at Necessary Road at R.D. Mize Road.
– Oct. 31: McCoy Park to Mill Creek Park Trail: 800 N. Bess Truman Parkway. Meet at the northwest corner of McCoy Park.
– Nov. 7: Centerpoint Medical Center Trail, 19600 E. 39th St. Meet in the parking lot off of Jackson Drive at the medical offices entrance.
– Nov. 14: McCoy Park Trail, 800 N. Bess Truman Parkway. Meet in the northwest corner of the park.
No walk will take place on Nov. 21, which is the day before Thanksgiving.
