Once again, the Independence Police Department is joining other law enforcement agencies across the U.S. in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s annual prescription drug take-back effort.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 29 in the parking lot north of City Hall, 111 E. Maple Ave., the public can bring unused, unwanted or expired prescription drugs for free, safe disposal, with no questions asked. Residents of any city will be able to drop their drugs off in a drive-through lane without leaving their vehicles.
Tablets, capsules and all other solid dosage forms will be collected. Intravenous solutions, injectables and syringes will not be accepted. The medicine collected will be incinerated according to federal and state environmental guidelines.
