The Fort Osage School District has canceled school for Thursday in advance of the severe winter storm expected to begin late tonight.
The district’s Fort Discover before- and after-school program also is closed.
Also, several events in the community have already been canceled. Among those announced so far:
• The monthly Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce luncheon, featuring the annual state-of-the-city speech by Mayor Carson Ross.
• Blue Springs City Hall and Vesper Fall are closed. Municipal Court in Blue Springs is closed.
• Community Services League offices will be closed.
• Park University is closed.
• The Harvesters mobile food pantry at Fort Osage Church of the Nazarene is canceled.
• St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs has rescheduled its Heart Healthy Celebration event for Feb. 28. It’s from to 8 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Education Center and will include a heart-healthy cooking demonstration, a presentation from a St. Mary’s stroke navigator and a fashion show featuring red clothing and the new spring line from dressbarn.The event is free, but registration is limited. Call 816-228-3335 to make a reservation.
