Jackson County's charter review task force will hold its first meeting Thursday.
It's at 5:30 p.m. in the legislative chambers on the lower level of the Courthouse Annex at 308 W. Kansas Ave., just off the Square in Independence.
The charter is the county's basic governing document, much like a constitution, laying out the duties of various offices. Among the changes the task force is expected to look at are term limits for county legislators, the county executive, the sheriff and the prosecuting attorney. Any proposed changes would need to go to the County Legislature by August for that body to approve putting them on the ballot in November.
