Former Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates will be the keynote speaker for this year’s Wild About Harry dinner.
The annual dinner is from 6:15 to 9 p.m. April 5 at the Marriott-Muehlebach Hotel in Kansas City. The event is a fundraiser for the Truman Library Institute, and Gates also will receive the Harry S. Truman Legacy of Leadership Award.
A native of Wichita, Kan., Gates, 68, served as the 22nd secretary of defense from December 2006 through July 2011. Effective this month, Gates, a former president of Texas A&M University, will become chancellor of The College of William and Mary following the completion of Sandra Day O’Connor’s term.
