According to the latest census information,
there are 6,838 residents in Oak Grove.
“Oak Grove is an attractive place to raise a
family because of its rural atmosphere, good
school system, and small town feel,” Mayor
Mark Fulks said.
The city, which had just more than 5,500
people after the 2000 census, is able to host
several types of activities
that most communities
cannot accommodate,
Fulks said.
The city hosts its
annual Tractor Pull in
August, a chambersponsored
rodeo, a
youth rodeo in August,
an annual car show,
and numerous equine
events throughout the
summer months, Fulks
said.
According to the
city’s Web site, the city
offers activities for
adults to get involved
in.
The city hosts an
adult men’s softball league and a fall adult
coed softball league.
In September parents can even take their
kids and their dogs to the Doggie Day at the
Pool.
In addition, the Oak Grove Parks
Department hosts numerous tournaments
and specialized activities throughout the
year.

Not only does Oak Grove offer several
summer activities and things for the whole
family to do, the city is preparing for the
future.
“I have been honored
to be able to
assist the Board of
Aldermen in preparing
our city for future
growth and in addressing
the need to replace
infrastructure,” Fulks
said.
According to Fulks,
the city also has plans
to make storm water
improvements and plan
to implement an ongoing
program to replace
streets that were not
designed for current
traffic needs. The city’s
main highway, Route F
or Broadway Street, is
being widened to five lanes. Several commercial
projects are also under construction.
“Future residents have several subdivisions
to choose from in selecting a new home site
within the city that offer a variety of locations
and amenities,” Fulks said
