The elementary level in the Oak Grove
School District is broken up into two buildings.
OAK GROVE PRIMARY
Oak Grove Primary School serves students
in kindergarten, first and second grades.
Opened in 1993, it had six additional classrooms
constructed in 1999 to help with overcrowding
issues at the facility.
During the 2007-08 school year, a kiss-andgo
lane was built, allowing for better traffic
flow through the school’s parking lot when
parents are picking up and dropping off
their students.
In addition, it helped to alleviate traffic
problems in the surrounding neighborhood.
Students at the building are instructed in
the four core subject areas – communication
arts, mathematics, science and social studies.
The principal is Laura Oyler.
MAPLE ELEMENTARY
Maple Elementary School houses students
in third, fourth and fifth grades.
Overcrowding issues were addressed two
years ago when the elementary building
moved into the former site of Oak Grove
Middle School.
Like at the Primary Building, students are
instructed in the four core subject areas as
well as have the opportunity to attend special
classes such as music, art, computer/technology
and physical education throughout
the week.
At Maple, students have the opportunity
to enroll in the gifted program if they meet
certain requirements.
Peggy West is principal at Maple
Elementary.
OAK GROVE EARLY
CHILDHOOD CENTER
Before students reach kindergarten, some
services are available though the Oak Grove
Early Childhood Center.
This facility houses the early
childhood/special education, Title I and after
school programs.
The Parents As Teachers program is located
in the center and the board of education
meetings are also held once a month in the
facility.
The principal is Lorri Boydston.
