1What makes the Oak Grove
School District stand a part
from other school districts?
Oak Grove has that small-town feel, but
we have all the opportunities provided by
a larger district. We like to see our students
involved in many activities and academic
opportunities throughout the year.
Our smaller size allows our kids and
teachers to develop a
personal relationship
throughout their years
in school. We believe
that this enhances the
opportunities our students
have to experience
success each and
every day.
2What are
some of the
goals you
would like to see
accomplished during
the 2008-09 school year?
Our goals are always focused squarely on
increasing the academic achievement of
our students. Plans to enhance quality
instruction with new technology equipment
were recently implemented. In addition,
we are implementing instructional
practices and programs that target the
learning needs of students. We believe
our students will not only meet required
achievement goals, but will graduate from
our school district prepared to be successful
in whatever path they choose. The
Oak Grove Board of Education is committed
to providing the best educational program
available for our students.
3What can parents do to make
their children more successful
in school?
Communication between parents, teachers
and administrators is the key to success
for children in school. Maintaining
regular communication with your child’s
teachers will ensure that academic goals
are met throughout the school year.
4Why is it important
for parents to
become involved in
their child's education?
The years pass by quickly, and
each day is important for a
child's preparation. Involvement
by parents will demonstrate to
the child that his or her parents
value and support education.
Additionally, it keeps the parent,
student and teacher working
together toward a common
goal of preparing every student
for a productive, successful future.
5What do you see as the
biggest challenge facing educators
today?
Our students and parents lead busy lives.
It is imperative that each of us works
together on a daily basis to challenge our
students in reaching appropriate academic
goals each year. Educators understand the
importance of family time for every student.
Thus we must work as a team to
make sure that our students' needs are
met both at home and in the classroom
