Dorothy Joanne Mordecai, of Gravois Mills, MO died peacefully at the Good Shepard Care Center on January 7, 2018 at the age of seventy-eight.
Dorothy Joanne Mordecai, of Gravois Mills, MO died peacefully at the Good Shepard Care Center on January 7, 2018 at the age of seventy-eight. She was the daughter of Gaylerd Quigley and Kathleen (Haggard) Quigley, Joanne was born on April 20, 1939 in Linn County, Missouri and continued to live in various areas of Missouri throughout her life.
Joanne married D. Gene Mordecai in 1983 and both enjoyed many years together in Moberly, Kansas City, and at the Lake of the Ozarks.
Joanne was a talented artist and enjoyed painting and gardening. She enjoyed her friends in the Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Moberly and Kansas City and the Lady Elks Auxiliary Lodge #2705 of Laurie, Missouri. Her greatest love was spending time with family and friends whether it was at family reunions, the Missouri State Fair, the excitement of a casino or wintering in Texas. She had a zest for life and spread joy to all who encountered her.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Gerald Quigley and a brother-in-law, Theodore Bredson.
Loved ones she leaves behind include her husband, Gene; her sister, Margaret Quigley Bredson; her sister-in-law, Christine Quigley; three daughters, Sheryl Howell Hilburn, Kathy Howell Frank, Margaret Howell Hoke and their spouses; four children by marriage, Mike Mordecai, Linda Mordecai Collins, Melanie Mordecai King, Donnie Mordecai and their spouses and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to the care givers at Hospice Compassus in Osage Beach and the Good Shepard Care Center in Versailles.
The family will gather with friends for a Celebration of Joanne's Life on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at the Courtyard Marriott/Residence Inn at 1535 Baltimore Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri.
