Lee's Summit, MO —

Cecil Ray Lewis, 86, died on Saturday, October 31, 2009, in his home in Lee’s Summit, Mo., surrounded by his family.

Cecil lived a very full life, beginning by enlisting in the Navy at age 19, the December after Pearl Harbor. He soon earned the rank of Aviation Machinist’s Mate First Class Hydraulic Specialist. He spent two years aboard the USS Enterprise.

Cecil is survived by his wife Marjorie Lewis of 64 years, and their five children; Cecil (Corky) Ray Lewis, Jr., Gary Wayne and Rita Lewis of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Denis Carlton Lewis of Lone Jack, Mo., Linda Lee Wilson of Kansas City, Mo., and Kimothy Sue and Spurgen Norman of Colorado Springs, CO, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Willard Lewis and sister Betty Flanegin, both of Blue Springs, Mo., and Vernon Lewis of Independence, Mo.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 5, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Langsford Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Mo. following the visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kansas City Hospice of Harvesters. Arrangements, Langsford Funeral Home, 115 SW 3rd St, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063.
