Jean Piper Meyer, 88, Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Independence, Mo., passed away Feb. 2, 2012.
Jean was born April 11, 1923, in Windsor, Mo., and graduated from Windsor High School. She and her husband, Reuben W. Meyer, resided in Independence for more than fifty years. She was devoted to her work as Office Manager for Independence doctor, Ervin H. Dorsch, and for the Radiology Dept. at the former Independence Sanitarium for many years. She was a member of the Independence Junior League, IK Chapter of P.E.O. and Independence Young Matrons.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband and her son, John Piper Meyer. She is survived by daughters, Andrea Meyer Martin, Prairie Village, Kan., Jean Ann Meyer Hansen, and husband, Rick, Odessa, Mo., Melissa Meyer Reiff and husband, Ron, Dallas, Texas; sister, Roberta Piper Christen, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A family only graveside service was held Feb. 6. The family requests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, Kansas City Chapter, 3846 W. 75th St., Prairie Village, KS 66208.
