William Richard Harper, 83, Independence, Mo., passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008.
William was born August 22, 1924, in Kansas City, Mo., to Charles A. and Mayalene (Bryan) Harper. He retired from the Santa Fe Railroad after 41 years as a brakeman. He was a member of Brotherhood of Railroad Trainman Lodge 99. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Harper.
He leaves loving children cared for by him, Louie Anderson and wife, Janet, David Anderson, and wife, Cheryl, and Kathy Brockman and husband, George; sister, Betty Koop and husband, Elmer; daughter-in-law, Debbe Anderson; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 10, followed by funeral services at 1 p.m., at the Park Lawn Funeral Home, Kansas City, 816-523-1234. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery, Kansas City. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity in memory of William.
