Edgar Martin Stone, age 89, of Forest City, N.C., died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.

 Born in Johnson County, Mo., he was the son of the late Edgar Fleming and Ellen Salyer Stone. Edgar was a U.S. Army paratrooper, serving in World War II and was a retired boilermaker/welder for the U.S. Government for more than 30 years.

 He is survived by his daughter, Lee A. Harper and husband, Regan, of Union Mills, N.C.; granddaughter, Stephanie Marie Blanton and husband, John, of Forest City, N.C.; three great-granddaughters, Amber, Alexis and Alaina Blanton of Forest City, N.C.; and niece, Sharie Andersen of New York City. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Pearl Cummins Stone.

 A visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, followed by funeral services at 10 a.m., at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Floral Hills Chapel, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
