Hester May Garner, 85, of Independence, Mo., died on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at Centerpoint Medical Center.

 Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Breshears Memorial Chapel, Brunswick, Mo., with the Rev. Hylton Lawrence officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Lighthouse Baptist Church, 17902 Whitney Road, Independence. Burial will be in Elliott Grove Cemetery, Brunswick, Mo.

 Hester was born on April 18, 1927, at Dalton, Mo., the daughter of Thomas and Jennie Andrews Campbell. She was married to Vernon Garner on January 24, 1948, at the Chariton County Courthouse. Vernon preceded her in death on December 10, 2006. She had been a housewife and was a Baptist and a former member of the Rucker-McAllister Post #7 American Legion Auxiliary at Brunswick, Mo.

 Survivors include one daughter, Shelia Snyder of Independence, Mo.; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Helen Lewis and Hazel Moore, one son, Thomas V. Garner, and one son-in-law, Johnnie Snyder.

 Memorials may be made to Elliott Grove Cemetery, and may be mailed to or left at Breshears Memorial Chapel, 207 W. Broadway, Brunswick, MO 65236, 660-548-3222.
