Nina O. Gowin, 89, of Independence, Mo., passed away November 16, 2012.
She was born August 7, 1923, in Independence, Mo., to Henry and Golda Goebel. Previous occupations include AT&T operator, Lake City Ammunitions Plant during WWII, Brunson Instruments and retired from the Independence School District. Nina spent her life caring for her brothers, her children and animals.
She is survived by four children, Marla Ann Thompson (Frank), Gary Gowin (Carla), Gina Gowin (Gary Scarborough) and Gayla Gowin-Belk ; seven grandchildren, John and Brent Gowin, John and Katy Thompson, Amy, Laura and Michaella Scarborough. She was preceded in death by one son, Mike Gowin.
The family requests no flowers. Instead, we ask for contributions to be made in her name to the Independence Animal Shelter, 875 Vista Avenue, Independence, MO 64050.
