Shane A. Mackay, 50, of Blue Springs, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at his home.
He was born April 16, 1962 to Neville and Margaret (Cox) Mackay in Parramatta, NSW Australia. Shane moved to the United States when he was 11, in 1973. He graduated from Blue Springs High School in 1981. He was a state qualifying wrestler in high school, and he played trumpet in the marching band. Shane was a great athlete and excelled at every sport he played. Shane was an electrician and he and his brother owned Electrico. He was a real outdoorsman. Shane married Wendy Jacobs on September 30, 1989, in Independence, Mo. He was devoted to his children and grandchildren, and his animals. He was preceded in death by his father, Neville Mackay, and brother, Mark Mackay.
Shane is survived by his wife, Wendy (Jacobs) Mackay; daughters, Shanna Mackay of Kansas City, Mo., and Samantha Mackay of Blue Springs, Mo.; mother, Margaret Mackay of Blue Springs, Mo.; sister Naomi Mackay and fiancé, Tommy Flood, of Kansas City, Mo.; brother, Michael Mackay of Blue Springs, Mo.; grandchildren, Dayton and Nevaeh Binkley of Kansas City, Mo.; and in-laws, Leonard Jacobs Jr. and Alice (Brenner) Jacobs.
Visitation for Shane will be 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m., at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St., Blue Springs, 816-229-3276. Burial will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Shane may be made to the family.
