William “Billy” J. Dennis, 47, formerly of Independence, Mo., passed away Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, at Sunset Health Care, Union, Mo., after a long illness.
Billy was born on December 14, 1964, to Richard and MaryAnne (Woodworth) Dennis. Billy attended Van Horn High School. Billy joined the U.S. Navy at 17 years old, where he was a radioman on the USS Long Beach. Billy was a huge sports fan. He loved the Kansas City Chief’s, Kansas City Royals and the KU Jayhawks. Billy was preceded in death by his mother, MaryAnne; brother, Scott; and sister, Tracy.
Billy is survived by his three children, daughters, Amy and Jessica, and son, Beau, of Independence, Mo.; father, Richard and wife, Heather; brothers, Steve and wife, Brenda, Matthew and Brian; sisters, Terri Kintner and husband, Ken, Tami Dennis and Denise Williams and husband, Jay; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family would like to thank the following places that cared for Billy during his illness, Rockhill Manor, Crossroads Hospice, Sunset Health Care, and TIPS Hospice. Your love and care for Billy will never be forgotten.
A memorial service celebrating Billy’s life will be on Dec. 8 at 11 a.m. at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Drive, Raymore, Mo. The family is asking everyone to dress in Chief’s, Royals, KU apparel or colors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Huntington’s Disease Foundation in Billy’s name.
