Jacob “Jake” Michael Porter, 33, Independence, Mo., was suddenly called by the Lord Friday, Nov. 23, 2012.
Jacob was born February 5, 1979, in Independence, Mo., to Linda (Harrington) and Cecil Porter. Jake grew up in Independence with his brothers, Eddie and Troy. In 1997, Jake graduated from William Chrisman High. In 2005, Jake married Amanda Ault. Jake was a loving husband, son, father, brother and uncle who was a “BIG KID” at heart and loved spending time playing with his children, as well as baking and cooking. Jake had a big heart and could give the biggest bear hug ever, he is greatly missed by his family and friends. We will cherish the memories he leaves with us. Jacob is preceded in death by his father, Cecil Porter; grandparents, Wally and Lea Harrington and Clyde and Esther Porter; uncle, Russell Harrington; and cousin, Melissa Dawn.
He is survived by his wife, Amanda, of Independence Mo.; his four children, Cameron, Mason, Amethyst and Josiah; mother and stepfather, Linda and Paul Nuckles of Windsor, Mo.; brothers, Eddie Porter of Independence Mo., and Troy Porter and wife, Rachel, of Smithville, Mo.; one niece; three nephews; and many aunts, uncle, cousins and friends.
A memorial service in honor of Jacob will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, with visitation and reception to follow, at Living Hope Church, 2425 S. Crysler Ave., Independence Mo.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made to help with services.
