Leslie J. O’Dell, 84, of Independence, Mo., passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at the VA Medical Center.

A private inurnment service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Mound Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to VFW Post 1738, 1228 S. Scott Ave., Independence, MO 64052.

Mr. O’Dell was born on Feb. 27, 1928, to William and Anna (Evans) O’Dell in Detroit, Mich. He had been a machine shop owner, retiring in 1985. Mr. O’Dell was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Occupied Germany after World War II. For more than 19 years, he served on the Honor Guard Team with the American Legion Post 21 and the VFW Post 1738.

Mr. O’Dell is survived by two sons, Scott O’Dell and wife, Barbara, of Independence, Mo., and Daniel O’Dell of Grain Valley, Mo.; a daughter, Lori Ann Laster of Independence, Mo.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
