Vaughny C. Burnham, 100, of Independence, Mo., passed away Monday, May 28, 2012, at The Groves, Rosewood Health Center.

Vaughny was born in Deer Lodge, Mont., to Arthur and Josephine Reese. When she was eight years old she moved to Independence, where she met her husband, Chester Burnham. Before retirement, she worked for the Community of Christ audio visual service in the Auditorium for 17 years. Still in service to the community, she became a volunteer at the Temple and Auditorium. During her career at the Temple and Auditorium, she was named Employee of the Year. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester, and brother, Duane Reese.

She is survived by her two children, Arthur Burnham and wife, Dorothy, of Denver, Colo., and Connie Katowitz of Independence, Mo.; five grandchildren, Michele, Jeff, Danelle, Ranee and Scott; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by a 10 a.m. service, on Saturday, June 9, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Avenue, Independence, Mo. Burial at Mound Grove Cemetery.
