Jerry Malott, 73, of Independence, Mo., passed away January 9, 2013.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, January 14, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO.  Graveside service at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO.  

Jerry was born April 18, 1939, in Kansas City, Kan., to James and Kathleen Malott. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. In 1992, Jerry retired from Western Electric (Lucent), where he had worked as a machine operator. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Geraldine Malott.

He is survived by his daughter, Paula A. McGhee and husband Jeff; son, Scott A. Malott; two grandsons, Jeremy and Dylan McGhee; one brother, Walter Malott and wife Marie; and sister, Kathleen Sue Forck and husband Gary.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may  be made to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences and memories may be left for the family at www.speakschapel.com
