Artis J. Fields

Artis June Fields, 84, Liberty, Mo., and formerly of Richmond, Mo., died at 9:22 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2008, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty.

Mrs. Fields was born June 28, 1923, in Tinney Grove in northern Ray County, Mo., to Jessie Oscar and Virgie Katherine (Ritchie) Clevenger. She married Edward Franklin Fields of Richmond on Sept. 20, 1940; he preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 1999. Mrs. Fields had worked at Remington Arms. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Richmond, where she had been an active member. She had lived in Richmond most of her life. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Johnnie Clevenger, Leonard Clevenger, Charles Clevenger and Wally Clevenger, and four sisters, Norma Pointer, Betty Davis, Mabel Cunningham and Dorothy Alvin.

Her survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny F. and Sharon Fields of Ripley, Ohio, and John M. and Donna S. Fields of Liberty; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Margie K. and Ernest Claypole of Liberty, Marilyn S. and Donald L. Keller of Independence, Mo., and Catherine A. Fields of Liberty; nine grandchildren, Michelle K. Claypole, Gretchen K. Holderness, Joshua S. Keller, Jennifer Bajkowski, Gregory Alan Fields, Danna Lynn LaPee, Stacy A. Ellis, Jason S. Ellis and Monty L. Bowman; and 14 great-grandchildren, Ashley Jo Claypole, Ashton T. Holderness, Olivia L. Holderness, Ella K. Holderness, Nicholas L. Keller, Isabella A. Keller, Hunter Alan Bajkowski, Katara Kayri Fields, Shawn Paul Fields, Sierra Lynn Ellis, Haley June Ellis, Austin Lee Bowman, Adian L. Bowman and John LaPee.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 17, at the Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, 816-776-2233. Burial will be at Richmond Memory Gardens, Richmond. Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.
