James “Jim” A. Russell, 63, Independence, Mo., died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13,  followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m., at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Cremation.

Jim was born Sept. 14, 1949, in Independence, Mo., and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Truman High School in 1967 and in August of that year he began a forty-two year career at Kansas City Southern Railroad. He retired in 2009. He loved electronic gadgets, the Chicago White Sox and the Minnesota Vikings.

Jim is survived by daughter, Stephanie Denk and husband, Stephen, Buckner, Mo.; parents, James and Margaret Russell, Kansas City, Mo.; sister, Karen Mitchell, Independence, Mo.; granddaughters, Ashli and Brittany; grandsons, Colton and Easton; and nephews Jimmy and Brandon.
