Steven James Neal, 47, of Odessa, Mo., died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012.

Steven was born on July 6, 1964, in Kansas City, Mo., to James Edward and Rose Ann (Turner) Neal.  He was a 1982 graduate of Raytown High School and a 1984 graduate of ITT Technical Institute, with a degree in automotive technology. On September 19, 2009, he married Janell Burton who survives of the home. He had a passion for race cars and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of C.A.R.B.

 In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include his two stepsons, Cody Burton of Odessa, and Tyler Burton of Independence, Mo.; three brothers, David Neal (Connie) of Independence, Kevin Neal (Christine) of Kansas City, and Kenny Neal (Vicki) of Stockton, Mo.; a sister, Debbie Berg (Stephen) of Kansas City; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and a son, Nicholas Scott Neal.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at Brooking Cemetery, 10004 E. 53rd St., Raytown, MO 64133. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. Second St., Odessa, MO 64076, 816-633-5524.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Steven J. Neal Memorial Fund that has been established at the B&L Bank in Odessa.
