Thomas B. “Burnie” Toombs, 71, of Shawnee, Kan., passed away at Menoriah Medical Center Friday, November 20, 2009. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Monday, November 23, 2009 at Shawnee Park Christian Church 16500 Midland Drive, Shawnee, KS, 66217. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the church. Cremation will follow the service with burial in Blue Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial Contributions may be made to Shawnee Park Christian Church. Burnie is survived by his wife Donna and one son Bob (Linda) Toombs, Shawnee, KS; and two grandchildren, Riley and Ben Toombs.
Bernie was a strong Christian man, a good husband, father and grandfather. Bernie owned and operated Jacomo Sheet Metal for numerous years and was a strong member of Sheet Metal Workers Union No. 2.
