Sedalia, Mo. —

Pinky Boman, 69, of Sedalia, MO, passed on November 16, 2008 after recently being diagnosed with cancer.

Born in Ponca City, OK on November 14, 1939, he was the son of Pinckney and Helen Boman of Independence, MO where he grew up and graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1957. He served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Diesel Jet Mechanic (ADJ) until 1960. He was employed at Western Electric shortly after his naval service and worked several jobs, but most of his adult life was in the trucking industry as a driver and then an owner/operator when he formed Boman Trucking in 1977. Pinky and his wife, Sandy raised their family in Blue Springs, MO, moving to Sedalia in 1991. Pinky retired from the trucking business and began raising beef and working his farm with Sandy.

In addition to his wife of 47 years, he is survived by his children, Paul D. Boman & wife, Sue Boman of Grain Valley, MO, and D’Ann R. Sherwood of Chesapeake, VA. He also leaves a brother, Lewis W. Boman & wife, Sharon of Blue Springs, MO and five grandchildren, Andy (Kim), Aaron and Emily Boman, McKenzie and JoAnn Sherwood.

Visitation will be at Parkview Christian Church at 1405 E 16th Street in Sedalia, MO on Thursday, November 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the church on Friday at noon with a luncheon prior. Private family graveside services and burial at Blue Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Parkview Christian Church or the American Cancer Society.
