Lynn Winston Cox, 74, of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, August 28, 2008 at his home.

Lynn was born July 29, 1934 in Ulman, MO, the son of Clarence and Ora (Barr) Cox. He drove locally for Schock Transfer, retiring in 1994, and then drove a school bus for Fort Osage. Lynn was a member of the Sugar Creek Church of Christ and local Union 41. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Lynn was an avid golfer and fisherman.

Lynn was preceded in death by 7 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Marilyn Cox of the home, 7 children, Dennis Cox (Diane), Willard, MO, Julie Rowley (Charles), Halfway, MO, Lynn Mitchell Cox (Laura), KC, MO, Sherilyn Eversole (Charles), Indep, MO, Jeffery Cox (Sally), Indep, MO, Charles Cox (Lisa), Indep, MO, Delisa Hickman (Mark), Overland Park, KS, 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., August 30, at New Salem Funeral Home, Independence, 816-796-8600.

Burial in Oak Ridge Memory Garden. Visitation will be 7 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, August 29, 2008 at New Salem chapel. The family suggests contributions in lieu of flowers to Cancer Action, 4010 S. Lynn Court, Indep, MO. 64055.
