Lena Maxine Evans, 90, of Independence, Mo., passed away, Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Rosewood Health Center.  

Services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington, Independence, Mo. 64052.  Private burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery.  The family will greet friends from 10 a.m., until service time Tuesday at the chapel.  

Maxine was born September 21, 1919 in Allardt, TN to Henry and Florence (Hale) Yahnig.  She had worked as a RN for a number of years in Alaska before moving back to the US.  She enjoyed art music and the great outdoors.  She was an active member of the RLDS Church where she was a member of the Women’s Leader and organized the first Senior Citizens Program.  She was currently a member of Mt. Zion Restoration Branch.  She was married to Jack R. Evans who preceded her in death in 1959.  

Survivors include; 2 sons, Dan Evans and his wife Mary and Don Evans and his wife Linda; a daughter, Joan Dale; 4 sisters, Lillie Mae Sutton, Clara VanBibber, Manon Wheeler and Dorothy Brockman; a brother, David Yahnig; 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
