Bob Behen, 64, of Sugar Creek, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Jan. 30, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 10113 E. Lexington Ave., Independence, Mo. Family will also be receiving friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, before the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will be Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence.
Bob was born July 24, 1948, in Kansas City, Mo., to William Edward and Betty Lee (Ainsworth) Behen-Simon. He was one of two children. He graduated from Van Horn High School. Bob was a lifelong active member of St. Ann’s Parish. He was passionate about collecting baseball cards, and especially reading on the NASA space programs. Bob lived at Blue Hill Assisted Living, where he had many friends. He participated in Clubhouse activity and day program. Bob is loved and will be missed.
He is survived by a sister, Sharon Crawford of Sugar Creek, Mo.; great-aunt, Virginia Seippel, and cousin, Carolyn Sidwell, both of St. Joseph, Mo.; cousins, Fritz Seippel of Lake Tapawingo, Mo., and Nancy Walsh of Independence, Mo.; and many special friends, Cathy Powell, Bill Rose, Jim Reynolds, Jeff Davis, Andy Braddy, Madupe Oluffe and Shirley Renau. Bob was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and brother-in-law, Chet Crawford.
