Edmond Dee Murphy, 70, Independence, Mo., passed away Friday, February 8, 2013.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, February 11, 2013, at Carson-Speaks Chapel; 1501 W. Lexington, Independence, MO 64052. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at Richmond Memory Gardens, Richmond, Mo., with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Northcare Hospice House.

Ed was born May 14, 1942, in Richmond, Mo., the son of Winston and Dorothy (Unger) Murphy. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Ed retired from Ford Claycomo Plant after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Susquehanna Baptist Church. Ed and his wife enjoyed being foster parents to over 100 children.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Murphy; son, Brian Murphy, and his parents. Survivors include his sons, Tim Murphy and wife Tammy, Connor Murphy; granddaughter, Danielle Murphy; brothers, Jon Murphy and wife Gayle, Matt Murphy and wife Peggy; and two nieces.
