Carol L. Finney, 74, Independence, Mo., passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2012.

Carol was born Aug. 9, 1937, in Independence and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from William Chrisman High School and then received her LPN degree in 1975 from the Kansas City Board of Education through Menorah Hospital. In recent years, she worked for Kansas City Internal Medicine before her retirement in 2010. Although she had retired, she still worked part-time. She was a member of the New Walnut Park Congregation and had served as the head deacon until her recent illness. She loved to travel and attend dinner theater with friends.

Carol is survived by her mother, Mae McDaniel, of the home; cousins, Lois Brewer and husband, David, Marilyn Tindall, all of Independence, Mo., and Dennis Crull and wife, Penny, Pagosa Springs, Colo.; aunt, Lillian Kinser, Independence, Mo.; and many other family and friends.

The family wishes to thank Lorrie Mayes for her friendship, compassionate care and support throughout Carol’s illness. Carol will be missed by her family and many friends.

A gathering of family and friends in Carol’s honor will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at Community of Christ New Walnut Park Congregation, 1137 S. Pearl, Independence, MO 64050.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the New Walnut Park Congregation or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 6811 Shawnee Mission Pkwy., Mission, KS 66202-4088.
