To the editor:
I was very disgusted because the school district chose to listen to ignorance and not show a speech by the president of the United States to classrooms. I think it’s an actual insult to my intelligence, my child’s and to the city to let such ignorance rule. This isn’t the reason I’m writing tonight though, because I chose to let that one pass.
My daughter was offended today by the memorial for 9/11, and in all honesty I do not blame her. Who chose background music of Toby Keith singing “we’ll put a boot in your ass” for background music? For one thing, the U.S. didn’t do any of that because they didn’t capture the one responsible for 9/11, but instead went out and attacked a country not responsible, but I guess this area is still worshipping the last presidency.
It’s funny to me that she couldn’t watch a speech by the current president of the U.S. encouraging students to do their best, yet listened to a memorial like that today. Possibly Truman High School and the Independence School District are encouraging the ROTC over education?
