To the editor:
I never could understand the logic of Independence City Council members like Marcie Gragg and Lucy Young making fireworks legal in Independence. It was because of too many complaints?!? Do they not know the definition of the word “complaint?” Also they have issued many “fire bans” this year, but it looks like everything is go for fireworks on one of the driest days of the year!
There is also concern for ozone throughout the country and the city. At times the smoke is so thick you cannot see across the street.
It is time for some of these people to be voted out of office. I know the mayor said something about no one running against some of them. Did he stop to think maybe no one wanted to step into the mess they created, for example the mess at “the Falls at Crackerneck Creek.” I believe I read in The Examiner where the city was using utility funds of more than $200,000 toward the debt at the Bass Pro project.
It seems the council is just getting itself in deeper and deeper.
