To the editor:

The election is over, but in the aftermath of a divisive campaign, it’s time again for us to come together.

I’m proud to have been a supporter of the president, but I never thought Mitt Romney was a bad candidate or that his ideas were any less valid than President Obama’s. That said, in the spirit of bipartisanship, I’m calling on President Obama to nominate Mitt Romney as his next secretary of commerce. Governor Romney’s experience in business, his experience in saving the Olympics, his experience as a CEO and his ideas could all contribute to our nation’s economic recovery where it really matters, at the Department of Commerce.

I know this would be an incredible gesture, and it might be a great stepping stone in the coming weeks as the president and members of Congress begin to tackle the great problems facing the nation, such as the so-called “fiscal cliff.” Surely many would respect this decision. I know I would.
