To the editor:
Lately, our vice president has been accusing Mitt Romney of sending jobs overseas. He is conveniently ignoring the loss of jobs resulting from the terrible waste know as the TARP “stimulus.” What about the Solyndra debacle? Remember the Chrysler dealerships that were forced to close? These are reminders that the government must not speculate with taxpayers’ money, and can’t effectively create jobs in the private sector.
His boss, the president, has been exaggerating the saving of General Motors. It caused the loss of thousands of shares of stock that investors were depending upon for their retirement. Now that GM has been saved, it’s moving its engineering design and manufacturing divisions to China. GM’s CEO, Dan Ackerson, announced from Beijing that GM is entering into 11 joint ventures with two Chinese government agencies to build 15 plants, which includes four power train plants, in China to manufacture all components and power trains for GM cars assembled here. How many U.S. workers will lose their jobs because of this?
Another thing of interest: The CEO of General Electric, Jeffrey Immelt, the president’s job creation czar, has been systematically relocating much of GE’s manufacturing to China. The latest will be the X-ray division of Waukesha, Wis. How many U.S. workers will lose their jobs because of this? GE employs more workers overseas than here in the U.S. He is a great job creator. For who?
It appears China is using interest that we pay on the trillions we have borrowed from them to buy our industries, and expand their military. Why does the president treat debt and loss of jobs so casually. What will be his next excuse? Who will he blame? How do we pay off the debt? A borrower is a slave to his lender.
