American needs Obama’s health plan

U.S. health care is the most expensive in the world but ranks only 27th in health care for its citizens. The U.S. infant mortality rate ranks 34th in the world and our life expectancy ranks 38th. Missouri’s health care ranks 40th among states. The main reason is that 40 million citizens are uninsured.

If you can afford to self-insure, you can afford to pay the opt-out penalty required. Why would anyone else be opposed to affordable care?

What are the benefits of affordable care? This is private insurance, not government insurance. If you like your insurance, keep it. If not, get another plan. If you can’t afford the premium, the government will assist you.

Young people under age 26 can remain on their parents’ coverage. People with prior or chronic conditions cannot be denied coverage. Lifetime caps on benefits are abolished. Many preventive tests will now be free. Insurance companies must now pay out a high percentage of their premiums for coverage, or make refunds.

The uninformed say that Medicare coverage will be reduced to pay for Obamacare, but that is not true. Benefits are actually getting better.

You think costs will go up? Probably, but how much has your premium increased in the last 10 years? Premiums have gone up less since Obamacare was passed than they have at any time in the last several decades.

Romney’s plan would turn health care over to the states. Do you really want to trust your health to the Missouri legislature?

The bottom line is that opposition to Obamacare results from opposition to Obama. It has nothing to do with what is good for Missouri or America.
