I am opposed to the U.S. paying money to a corrupt government and allow our soldiers to stay another 10 years.
President Obama and Afghan President Hamid Karzai signed an agreement under which the U.S. is to station troops till 2024 and pay Karzai government $20 billion. Afghanistan’s government is one of the most corrupt governments in the world. There were 178 nations investigated for corruption and Afghanistan was ranked No. 3. Only Somalia and Myanmar were more corrupt. During World War II, the U.S. demanded unconditional surrender. At the end of the Vietnam War, the U.S. left without paying money or leaving troops. But with the Afghan war the U.S. is paying $20 billion and leaving at least 25,000 troops?
Is this just a photo op? The president went to Afghanistan and had his picture taken stating that it was one year ago that the U.S. killed Osama bin Laden and gave away $20 billion of the taxpayers’ money.
Today, U.S.-trained Afghan troops are not taking over security responsibility. They take our money, are high on heroin and do not show any interest when their countrymen commit crimes. The U.S. taxpayer must ask, “How long does training take.”
