To the editor:

Health-care reform passed the House despite insurers, drug industries and other powerful interests working to defeat or weaken key elements of it. Thank you to Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II for voting for the bill and siding with the public rather than the vested interests. For local families and small businesses who are sick of soaring costs and unfair insurance industry practices, passage of the Affordable Health Care for America Act (H.R. 3962) means we’re one step closer to meaningful reform. Now it’s time to make sure the U.S. Senate also sides with the public.
