Isn’t it amazing what a community can do when they decide to work together on a project! Approximately a year ago, we received word that our train depot would be demolished, and people jumped into action. With a communitywide effort, we have been able to raise almost $18,000 toward our initial need of $25,000. We are almost to our goal and within a few thousand dollars of receiving a matching donation of $25,000. Of course, more funds will be needed to complete repairs to the interior but we are closing the gap.

Come downtown today to the Historic District Art and Antique show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and help us reach that goal. With more than 20 artists and antique dealers, antique cars and vintage quilts, there is something for everyone. Tour the historic, renovated Brownfield house for $5. All proceeds benefit the Save Our Depot fund.

The depot is scheduled to be moved at 8 a.m. May 21. Come cheer the depot as it moves to its new home in Central Park at 10th and Walnut. There’s still work to be done, but let’s all pat ourselves on the back for a job well done!
