I really enjoyed listening to Bill Clinton’s speech at the Democratic National Convention Wednesday night. He has a quality similar to Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) and Will Rogers. However, when you have time to digest that speech, you can see it is not very funny. For example, he said the Romney-Ryan plan to lower everyone’s taxes by 20 percent just didn’t add up. He explained that in Arkansas they know that two plus two equals four. Well I know that two minus two equals zero.
I want you to know that I didn’t get an accounting degree from an Ivy League school, but I bet that I could take the statistics from the IRS and an Excel spreadsheet and do “what if” analysis and come up with enough money to offset the loss of revenue from reducing taxes just by eliminating loopholes in the tax code. And reduce the tax code from 11,000-plus pages to about half that.
President Clinton, you really laid out the case that President Obama will continue to fail to lead and solve problems that can no longer be ignored. Thanks for the heads up.
