To the editor:

In response to Robert Simpson’s letter last Friday, “The big lie goes far in politics these days.”

Mr. Simpson, you keep calling our form of government a democracy, when in reality it is a representative republic. A government of, for and by the people. Sir, read the U.S. Constitution, it’s easy to find online. Just Google it.

You also seem to not understand why conservatives in the Republican Party are saying no to all of the ideas floated by the Democrats in control of our government. The answer, I believe, is that most of their ideas give more power to the federal government. We were set up and are bound by law to have a smaller federal government and stronger state governments. This seems to have been forgotten.

All of the bills that are in the works or have been passed into law in the last year and a half have been out of the purview of the federal government and infringing on the power of the states.

I don’t know about anyone else around here, but I was very upset with all of the Democrats like Harry Reid that said the people of Missouri aren’t educated enough to understand the health-care law, or Rep. Cleaver and White House Press Spokesman Robert Gibbs that said Proposition C meant nothing.

Mr. Simpson, the Democrats are the problem, not the Republicans. The Dems think we need them to care for us because we’re to dumb to care for ourselves. It’s just not right. We’re free Americans, not the citizens of a Third World country. It’s not right to be treated this way!
